​Tradition #2: Celebrating Siblings

Some traditions are so meaningful that they deserve to be repeated.

One of my favorite Bobbi's Bungalow stories begins with seven siblings who grew up in Logan County and graduated from Indian Lake High School. After their mother passed away in 2012, they made a promise to one another—to gather whenever one of them celebrated a birthday ending in zero.

Over the years, that promise has taken them all across the country. They've celebrated milestone birthdays in Colorado, Texas, California, Florida, and throughout Ohio, making time for each other no matter where life has taken them.

When it came time to celebrate brother Jon's 60th birthday in 2016, five of the sisters stayed together at Bobbi's Bungalow while the family gathered to celebrate. They discovered the bungalow through a family recommendation and quickly fell in love with its beautiful woodwork, hardwood floors, welcoming front porch, and cozy charm.

Their week was filled with laughter, adventure, and hometown favorites—shopping downtown, visiting Marie's Candies, enjoying breakfast at Liberty Gathering Place, taking a hot air balloon ride, spending time on Indian Lake, and rediscovering the places they remembered growing up

Ten years later, as Jon celebrated his 70th birthday, there was never any question about where the sisters would stay.

They came back to Bobbi's Bungalow.

This visit blended treasured traditions with new adventures. They explored Ohio Caverns, hiked Cedar Bog Preserve and Davey Woods Nature Preserve, attended the Logan County Fair, honored loved ones by visiting family cemeteries, and welcomed additional family members—including Jon, his wife, Hope, cousin Barb, nephew Dustin, his wife Jenna, and their four boys—to be part of the celebration.

What touches my heart most isn't the list of places they visited. It's the promise these seven siblings made to one another.

Life has taken them in different directions, but they continue to make time for one another, celebrating birthdays, honoring family, and creating new memories together.

It means so much to me that Bobbi's Bungalow has been part of that tradition—not just once, but ten years apart.
